It is not just about riding. It is about getting lost in Croatia’s highlands and visiting its hidden gems, both natural and man-made. It is a different way to get to see Croatia and its surprising landscape. This small but diverse country has a lot of historical landmarks and natural beauties scattered around which most of them can be visited only by riding gravel roads and trails.
On this tour we will introduce you to the spine of Croatia – the highlands! The tour will take you from the coastline deep into hinterland and around the scenic Velebit mountain and its historical off-road trails. Not just riding the trails – you will visit the abandoned ex-Yugoslavian military infrastructure left to oblivion and decay. Željava – the underground military airport, Plješivica – the communication center, Panos – mountain peak and main military communication center, Object 99 – once luxurious vacation villa for Tito and his most appreciated guests, Plitvice lakes from another perspective, Napoleon’s road, and riding up and down the Austro-Hungarian roads… this tour rides it all!
Lead by a licenced ADV and travel guide you will walk the tunnels, go down into the depths of the mountain peak, chill on the rock in the high grounds overlooking the seaside, ride the underground airport, relax in the middle of Velebit with a shot of rakija in your hands, contemplating over life and human civilization. This tour will make you think about the world and what else there is hidden from our sight and knowledge.
Off-road trails and narrow winding backroads through villages will give a vision of what’s Croatia made of.
Not just sea, sun and beaches but also mountains, rivers, hills and waterfalls which will leave you in awe as you pass through. It will make you want to ride those trails again.
By the end of the tour your mind will be filled with all the landscape views as well as knowledge transferred to you. You will feel relaxed and exercised at the same time.
You will definitely have completely other experience of Croatia from the one you would expect!
  • We can accommodate most dietary restrictions, please note that in your booking form!
  • We offer additional motorcycle equipment for rent in our office: body armor, knee protectors, ADV boots for a price of 35 Euros per person!
  • After the return,  there is a room to change clothes and a possibility of taking a shower in our office!

Itinerary

We meet at the office placed just above the beach and start riding after the morning coffee in the shade. You will be introduced to the trails and itinerary in details. We ride towards Knin town area where we will be sleeping on that day. We ride the mountain, hill and lake going for a famous natural phenomena - the source of Cetina river. With its unique shape like a woman's organ it continues to amuse people worldwide. After a short break we continue riding the Napoleon's road along the small river Krka and we finish at its waterfall, hopefully present at the time depending on the amount of rain in the year. We stay for the night in the area or ride to an accommodation in Knin.

From Knin we hit the road up north following a bit of TET Croatia and forest trails to get to our camp accommodation for the night. We stay in tents on the property, with a use of bathroom facilities. There is a possibility of renting a bed in a wooden cottage and having a breakfast in the morning.

This day is more about exploring around! We ride to the top of Plješivica hill where there used to ex-Yugoslavian communication center and then Željava, the abandoned ex-Yugoslavian underground airplane station. We ride into Željava at one gates and exit at another, and spend some time wandering around. We stay around for the night.

We ride the old Austro-Hungarian roads to get to Velebit mountain. That is where we have some amazing off-road trails to ride. We stay in a mountain hut for the night. There is also a possibility of renting a bed in a mountain dorm.

More of riding Velebit off-road trails and exploring the abandoned facility Panos, with a breathtaking views of the coastline and island beneath us! We stay for the night around or in a mountain hut.

Riding and riding! We pass the villages feeling like time has forgotten them, as we move on south towards the lake where we set up out tents in quiet and solitary area for the last night.

Master's road is in our itinerary for the last day! After some on and off-road riding we get to a private property where we have lunch waiting for us as a nice treat for the last day - a traditional dish Peka with drinks, on a family farmstead! After lunch we ride back to our meeting point above a few hills, making stops at their most interesting points and peaks.
